Sep 2, 2017 we interviewed Dylan Wiliam on how to implement research on assessment in has been in the way we often confuse marking and feedback.
In this article in Educational Leadership, assessment expert Dylan Wiliam reports the startling research finding that students often learn nothing from the comments and grades their teachers write on their papers – in fact, many students learn less when teachers provide feedback than when they write nothing at all.
Jag väljer att nedan fånga några av de saker som jag tar med mig. On this page, you can download conference papers, transcripts of talks, short articles, and other work in progress. More formally published works are at the “Publications” tab. Wiliam (1999a; 1999b; 2000) suggested that formative assessment consisted of teacher questioning, feedback, and the learner’s role (essentially, understanding criteria for success, peer-assessment and self-assessment), and a number of other authors have proposed similar ways of understanding formative assessment or assessment for learning.

This is an expanded version of the talk that I gave at ResearchEd on 9 September 2017. In it I argue that Tim Oates, Dylan Wiliam and Daisy Christodoulou, all educationalists whom I admire, have nevertheless got much wrong in their account of the curriculum.
